This week’s chat is a big laugh session of music chat and sillyness with the amazing Abbey Rose!
A Canadian-born and Darwin-raised songwriter, Abbey Rose is a talented original artist, sonwriter and session vocalist, who has established herself in the Melbourne/Naarm scene. Abbey skillfully blends rich lyricism with catchy hooks and deep grooves, influenced by R&B, Hip Hop, Jazz, and Rock. Her music, deeply personal and introspective, features soulful vocals and a hip-hop flair that critics celebrate for its perfect mix of swagger and vulnerability.
It was lots of fun catching up with Abbey; she is hilarious, has massive energy and if you haven’t seen one of her music videos I strongly suggest you check one out after listening to the chat, as on top of the music she puts out some really great vidoes too!
Beginning her career in Darwin, Abbey opened for acts like NGAIIRE and Emma Louise before relocating to Melbourne to study Jazz Improvisation. Here, she honed her vocal skills, formed a live band, and emerged as a distinctive storyteller, also known for her work with the fem-hop group The Mamas.
